■概要
The use of electric double layer capacitors (EDLC) is increasing as an electricity storage device to replace lead-acid batteries and lithium-ion batteries. EDLC is a type of physical battery that is attracting a great deal of attention from the perspective of the SDGs as a means of preventing global warming and increasing energy demand. EDLC, which is mainly composed of activated carbon, has a much longer life than normal batteries and has excellent discharge characteristics. In this research, we focus on the carbon material used for EDLC electrodes and develop a new carbon material from Japanese distilled liquor waste, a specialty product of Kyushu. Carbon materials made from Japanese distilled liquor waste are also used as cathode catalysts for magnesium-air batteries. Magnesium-air batteries and electric double layer capacitors are expected to be used to supply and store energy for next-generation electric vehicles.
