Among the carbon materials, graphene and CNT are mainly used as the potential candidates due to their excellent electrochemical applications and also CNT, carbon foams. Conversely, the graphene and CNT have been synthesized with major drawbacks, such as possible hazardous explosion and complicated instrumental setup, respectively. Attractively, the preparation of activated carbon (ACs) from biomass precursors have been prepared by using a facile and more environment-friendly. Developing the properties of physical activated jatropha husk carbon (JHC) and chemical (zinc chloride) activated jatropha husk carbon (ZAJHC) by comparison of the as-prepared JHC and ZAJHC properties (pH, Conductivity (μS/cm), Specific gravity, Bulk density (g/ml), Porosity (%),Moisture (%),Ash (%), Ion exchange capacity (mequiv/g), Solubility in water (%),Solubility in 0.25M HCl, Sodium (%), Potassium (%), Calcium (%),Phosphorous (%), Iodine number, pHzpc, Iron (%),SBET (m2/g), Micropore area (m2/g), Average pore diameter Dp and Surface Functional groups). The as-prepared materials have been characterized by a variety of analytical and spectroscopic techniques such as FE-SEM, FTIR, XRD, EA, XPS, BET analysis and Raman spectroscopy. Explore the feasibility of using JHC and ZAJHC as a potential adsorbents for the removal and recovery of organic dyes such as MB, RR2, AY36, and DY12 from water. Investigate and compare the adsorption dynamics, equilibrium studies, effect of pH, temperature and desorption for the removal of dyes. The results would be useful for designing adsorptive removal of dyes from ground water around the treatment plants and effluents. As the precursor, agricultural waste is disposed as waste, application of the ZAJHC to the removal of dyes is expected to be economical with several practical industrial applications.
